Grillz Care Instructions
Grillz are very unique dental jewellery accessories because of the environment to which they are exposed i.e The mouth. The mouth can be challenging to metal over time.
With no proven cleaning product in the market, it becomes a balancing act between maintaining the shine and lustrous finish while not putting our health at risk.
Below are some of the methods you can use to keep your grillz in good condition as well as to ensure that your teeth remain happy and healthy beneath your new grillz
2. Always rinse your teeth after each meal to prevent food debris from building up inside/underneath your grillz.
Failure to practice proper oral hygiene will lead to serious dental problems such as bad breath, gum disease and enamel erosion and subsequent tooth loss.
3. Your grillz are to be treated like a jewellery accessory, cleaned separately before and after use: we don’t recommend that you use toothpaste or jewellery cleaning agents. You may use dishwashing liquid soap instead.
Rinse the grillz properly under running tap water until there’s no soap residue remaining. This will help keep them clean while maintaining the shine and lustrous surface. Do this every time, before and after use.
To avoid scratching – DO NOT use an abrasive material e.g. brush to clean your grillz. Use a soft material e.g. a cloth. Cotton wool may be used on the outside surface in soft metals such as sterling 925 silver.
You may use Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) or regular mouthwash to rid them of any harmful bacteria. Simply fill up a glass with H2O2 or mouthwash solution, drop your grillz into the solution and let them soak for 1-2 minutes. Remove your grillz from the solution and gently rinse them under running water.
4. NEVER eat with your grillz. As in No chewing at all while you have them on. You may only have liquids. Smoking is discouraged as it may accelerate tarnish especially on sterling silver, dental gold and low carat golds such as 9ct.
6. Take very good care of them, ensure they are safely kept and not accidentally bent. Once bent we can’t guarantee perfect fit again as they are made and fitted with extreme precision, according to your teeth measurements. Any damage to your grillz that affects the fit cannot be restored. A new set will have to be made.
7. The grillz will lose their maximum shine over time. Metals such as sterling 925 silver, dental and 9ct gold are more prone to surface reactions due to environmental changes the grills are exposed to. This will vary depending on the amount of care and individual’s body chemistry. They may need to be repolished after a period of 6-15 months.
Dental silver alloy, chrome, and 14 & 18 carats gold are more tarnish resistant and will maintain their maximum shine over a longer period of time.
8. Your grillz come with a teeth model and jewellery box. You may keep them on the model at home (preferably in an open environment) and use the jewelry box when going out or traveling.
Don’t lose them. (We are here for you if you do though)
